At Perry Hall, Philosophy, Religion and Ethics (PRE) aims to develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the religions and beliefs that form the multicultural and multi-faith society that we live in today.

Our curriculum provokes pupils to consider challenging questions about the ultimate meaning and purpose of life, differing beliefs and the nature of right and wrong. It allows pupils to develop knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principal religions, religious traditions and world views.

All pupils have the opportunity to be immersed in a religion or cultural tradition through visits from religious leaders of different faiths or trips to places of worship.

Our PRE curriculum also aims to contribute to pupils’ personal development and well-being and to support community cohesion by promoting mutual respect and tolerance in our diverse society.  We offer opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual development, deepening the understanding of the significance of religion in the lives of others – individually, communally and cross-culturally.  We believe exploring the concepts of religion and belief whilst promoting spirituality, morality  and diversity, develops character and social understanding.

Personal development and well-being themes in our PRE curriculum supports our pupils to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens. It gives them the knowledge, skills and understanding to strengthen their capacity for making moral judgements and for evaluating and ultimately choosing positive and healthy choices.
